About the Artist
Zena Wood is a contemporary painter in West Sussex who is lucky enough to live by the sea.
Having had four children who have now left the nest, she has picked up her paintbrushes again after 23 years. Previously, she enjoyed watercolours but has now discovered a passion for pallet knives.
Zena’s inspiration is the sea; she loves its ever-changing mood and light, especially at sunset.
She believes that art is about doing what you want and having fun. One of her favourite artists is Alfred Wallis, a fisherman from St Ives. He painted what he saw, as he saw it – absolutely no rules.
“There is beauty in virtually everything we see, if we look hard enough. I’m lucky enough to be able to capture a small piece of it.”
